Ogden Raptors Announce 2022 Pitching Coach Les Lancaster
The Ogden Raptors are proud to announce the hiring of Les Lancaster as our new Pitching Coach. This is a great hire for us. Les pitched 7 years in the major leagues from 1987 through 1993. He pitched for the Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals. His best season was in 1989 when he played a key role in the Cubs winning of the National League East title. That season, Les compiled a 4-1 record with 8 saves and a staggering 1.36 ERA. For his career, Les was 41-28 with 22 Saves and a lifetime 4.05 ERA. Les stayed in the game after retiring from active play where he’s been a Minor League Manager. In 2000, he was named Baseball America’s Manager of the year. Les has also managed in Taiwan, Panama and Mexico so you can be assured that his knowledge will be most beneficial to our pitching staff. Les attended Dallas Baptist University and the University of Arkansas. In 1981, Les was drafted by the Yankees. In 1983, he was drafted by the Rangers, and he signed with the Cubs in 1985. He has been married to his loving wife of 23 years Candice, and they reside in the great state of Alabama. Candice and Les have a daughter Tiffany and 4 grand kids. His son Les is a Professional hockey player and is currently playing in Finland.
